The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), launched in 2015 with the goal of housing for all, structured central support around four verticals: in-situ slum redevelopment with private partners, credit-linked interest subsidy, affordable housing in partnership, and subsidy for beneficiary-led construction. It became one of the largest housing programmes in the world by sanctioned units, reshaping affordable-housing supply and peripheral township development.
