Description
Arlington County's planning along the Rosslyn–Ballston corridor (from the 1980s) deliberately concentrated dense, mixed-use development around its new Metro stations while protecting adjacent single-family neighbourhoods — a textbook 'bullseye' of density tapering from each station.

The R-B corridor is the most cited American success story of transit-oriented development, proving that channeling growth to rail stations can create walkable, high-value districts while preserving existing communities.
